Book a civil marriage ceremony with the City of Vaughan

Winter is a great time to celebrate your love story. The City of Vaughan offers civil marriage ceremonies at Vaughan City Hall, providing couples with a welcoming setting to celebrate their special day with family and friends.

Civil marriage ceremonies are hosted in the Garden Room at Vaughan City Hall (2141 Major Mackenzie Dr.). Free parking is available for all guests.

Here’s how to get started:

  1. Obtain a marriage licence. Couples must have a valid marriage licence issued in the Province of Ontario before their ceremony date.
  2. Book a ceremony. Civil marriage ceremonies must be booked online in advance.
  3. Attend a consultation. Once a ceremony is booked, an officiant will contact you to schedule a mandatory pre-ceremony consultation. Ceremony details will be confirmed, and the applicable fee must be paid prior to the ceremony date.

To make this day beautiful, dignified and intimate, our Civil Ceremony Information Package (PDF) will help you plan your civil marriage. Please fill out the questionnaire and submit it at your consultation. There are three options of vows to choose from. You will also have the option to include custom vows, which can be inserted between the mandatory declarations required under the Ontario Marriage Act.

More information about civil marriage ceremonies, marriage licences, vow renewal services, bookings and requirements is available on the City’s marriage services webpage.
