You asked, we answered
Every month, the City of Vaughan highlights the commonly asked questions received by the public and responded to by Service Vaughan in a series called ‘You asked, we answered.’
Here are the top five inquiries from March:

2. When are my 2026 interim residential property tax payments due?
The City’s 2026 interim residential and non-residential property tax bills were mailed to all Vaughan property owners in February. Payment due dates are as follows:
- First instalment – Friday, March 27
- Second instalment – Tuesday, April 28
- Third instalment – Wednesday, May 27
If you did not receive your tax bill in the mail, contact the City immediately by phone at 905-832-2281 or by email at service@vaughan.ca. Failure to receive a tax bill does not exempt you from paying property taxes – late payment penalties will be added.

3. Who do I contact about a blocked catch basin on my street?
If you live close to a catch basin you are encouraged to help clear it of snow, ice and debris, if it’s safe to do so. If a catch basin is blocked or covered, water can pool and flood on the street. You can learn more at vaughan.ca/stormwater.
If you see water ponding or flooding on the street near a catch basin, call the City at 905-832-2281 or email service@vaughan.ca.
4. How do I appeal a parking or by-law penalty issued by the City?
Penalty notices are issued for violations of City by-laws, including the Parking By-law, within the prescribed timelines, recipients must either pay or appeal the penalty by requesting a review by a Screening Officer.
Requests for Screening Officer review of a penalty must be received no later than 15 days from the date the penalty notice was served. Recipients can complete an online appeal at vaughan.ca/PenaltyAppeals or request a telephone appointment to speak to a Screening Officer by calling the City at 905-832-2281 or emailing bylaw@vaughan.ca.
If you are not the registered vehicle owner or the contravener named on the penalty notice, you will need to submit a completed Agent Authorization Form (PDF) to appeal on the owner’s behalf.
If you are not satisfied with the decision of the Screening Officer, you may request a Hearing Review. A request must be made within 15 days following the receipt of the Screening Officer’s decision.
The City does not send text messages or email reminders about parking penalties. If you receive a message or email, do not click on the link.
