Kleinburg Village Improvements continue!

We’re working to improve Kleinburg Village – and construction will resume this spring to bring roadway and streetscaping enhancements, new cycle paths (outside the village core) and more to the area.

Monday, Sept. 28 to Friday, Oct. 2, 2026

Islington Avenue (east side)

• John St. to Kellam St.: Boulevard interlocking stone and planter bed installation, road and lay-by pouring, timber wall installation (10499 Islington Avenue) and street lighting removal and replacement.
• Rushworth Cres. to Kleinburg Public School: Boulevard interlocking stone installation.

Islington Avenue & Highway 27 Intersection

• Construction of gateways.

Disruption Alert

Temporary road closure on Islington Avenue (between Nashville Road and Treelawn Boulevard)

The September 2 storm that caused widespread flooding across Vaughan significantly impacted construction activities and roadway conditions along Islington Avenue in Kleinburg Village. As a result, additional roadway repairs are necessary to ensure the long-term sustainability and safety of the road. To safely and efficiently complete the repairs, Islington Avenue will be fully closed between Nashville Road and Treelawn Boulevard, from Monday, Oct. 5 until Friday, Oct. 9. Businesses will remain open and accessible during this time. 

Access will be maintained for local residents, businesses and emergency services.
• Northbound traffic on Islington Avenue will be redirected west on Nashville Road towards Highway 27.
• Lester B. Pearson Street will remain closed at Islington Avenue. Eastbound traffic will be redirected west towards Nashville Road.
• Westbound traffic from Treelawn Boulevard will be redirected north on Islington Avenue towards Highway 27.

Lane and sidewalk closures in Kleinburg Village

The City of Vaughan is undertaking curb, layby parking and boulevard construction in Kleinburg Village on the east side of Islington Avenue. Construction will be completed in phases and is anticipated to be finished by the end of the year, weather permitting. 

Phase 1 work, from John Street to Kellam Street, is scheduled to commence on Monday, Sept. 14 and is anticipated to be completed by Friday, Oct. 16.

Phase 2 work, from Stegman's Mill Road to the north driveway of Kleinburg Public School, is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, Oct.7 and is anticipated to be completed by Friday, Nov.27, 2026.

More about the work:

• To safely complete the work, temporary lane and sidewalk closures are required during construction.
• Every effort will be made to maintain uninterrupted access to your driveway.
• If you require assistance coordinating deliveries during construction, please contact the City’s Infrastructure Delivery department before work begins via infrastructure.delivery@vaughan.ca. 
• Detour signs, flag persons and police will be on site to guide traffic and pedestrians in the area

Temporary Parking During Construction

Alternate temporary parking will be made available just north of 10565 Islington Avenue and south of Treelawn Boulevard, and at the Kleinburg Public School (10391 Islington Ave.) from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays and from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekends when the work begins.
