Camp Oradaca

Summer Full of Adventure

Camp Oradaca inspires confidence, independence, and curiosity in kids through outdoor exploration in the beautiful Boyd Conservation Area. Each day is packed with hands-on activities, playful challenges, and opportunities to discover new skills. Friendships grow naturally as campers problem-solve, share stories, and make memories that last long after summer ends.

For campers in Orioles and Hawks, the summer includes a highlight overnight experience with tents, campfires, night hikes, and breakfast cooked outdoors. It’s a summer where children unplug, connect with nature, and enjoy adventures that become cherished childhood memories.

Guidelines on food allergies

  • Campers must not share food.
  • The City of Vaughan is “nut aware.” All parents are asked to diligently check ingredients and avoid known allergens. The ingredients to look out
for include, but are not limited to, nuts of any type, eggs, milk, etc.
  • Staff will monitor snacks and lunches if there are known allergies in the camp group.
  • All parents share in a responsibility to read food labels and to not send products that contain/may contain traces of peanuts/nuts, or that do not
carry a complete list of ingredients (i.e. bulk food, from on-site bakeries, etc.). Where there is a life-threatening allergy to nuts or other allergens (confirmed by a family physician note), parents will be notified by letter, and requested to avoid sending the identified food. Special lunch screening is conducted.
  • Campers with items known to cause life-threatening reactions, will be moved to a private area to eat their food. Staff will instruct campers on
proper hand washing techniques for before and after meals.

Age requirements

Camps for Ages 4–6:
Children are required to be 4 years old by the start of camp. No age overrides are allowed.

Camps for Ages 7+:
Children are required to be of age by the end of the calendar year (December 31, 2026). No age override is needed.

Age considerations and exemptions
Although age is not always indicative of a child’s ability level, our camps are designed to be age appropriate. This includes consideration of cognitive, social, and physical developmental milestones. While some camps may have broad age ranges, we recognize that inherent age differences exist. Therefore, in most cases and where appropriate, participants will be grouped by age and/or skill level.

Age overrides are considered on a case-by-case basis. If your child does not meet the minimum age and you would like them to be considered for an age exemption, email rec@vaughan.ca or contact your local community centre and ask to speak with a Recreation Lead. Guarantees for age exemptions cannot be made.

Illness

If your child is sick, they must stay home, and parents or guardians must inform the Camp Director.
