Flag Raisings

Flag raisings enhance public awareness of community activities such as fundraisers, multicultural events and days of national importance.

City of Vaughan flag raisings support and promote the diversity and cultural heritage of the city’s residents and acknowledge important community organizations and groups that serve Vaughan. Flag raisings do not serve as endorsements for the politics or governments of the nations whose flags may be flown by the City as permitted in accordance with City's Flag Protocol Policy (PDF).

Flag-raising requests must be sent to the Office of the City Clerk one month in advance of the requested date. Flags may be lowered to half-mast to commemorate special dates such as Remembrance Day or as a measure of respect and condolence in accordance with the City's Flag Protocol Policy (PDF).

Complete the request form below and submit it to clerks@vaughan.ca. Requests for flag raisings must be made each year as they do not renew automatically.
