Crossing Guard Services
School crossing guards are an important part of the city of Vaughan community. These dedicated individuals work every school day to assist children walking across intersections throughout Vaughan.

Being a school crossing guard is not only a rewarding occupation, it also offers a flexible work schedule. A typical day for a crossing guard includes the following:
- There may be up to three shifts per day – one in the morning, one at lunch and one in the afternoon – however, most locations only have two shifts per day.
- The shift times vary depending on location and range between 35 minutes to 90 minutes.
- There are crosswalk locations in Concord, Kleinburg, Maple, Thornhill and Woodbridge. You may view a map of all crossing guard locations in Vaughan.
With more than 114 crosswalk locations throughout Vaughan, both permanent and standby crossing guards are needed to service all locations. The City recruits, trains and hires crossing guards, conducts pedestrian studies, selects crosswalk locations and installs appropriate signage and pavement markings.
