Sign Enforcement and Permits

The Sign By-law regulates the size, content and placement of signs in the City of Vaughan for the benefit of community appearance and the safety of residents. 

Any sign that is in contravention of the by-law is subject to removal, fees, and penalties.

Mobile Sign Permits


Mobile signs are signs that are capable of being moved from one location to another, such as by being part of or attached to a readily re- locatable wheeled trailer or frame.

Up to three (3) mobile signs are permitted on an eligible property as long as there is a minimum distance of 30 metres (approximately 100 ft) between the signs, provided that the property does not directly abut a residentially zoned property, and there is no limit on the number of mobile sign permits that can be obtained by any one business. 

Mobile sign permits are issued for a period of 21 days and can be renewed with no blackout period between permits. The City offers three types of mobile sign permits, which are required to display a Mobile Sign in the City of Vaughan:

Mobile Sign Companies

Mobile Sign Companies operating in the City of Vaughan are required to have a business licence which is valid until after the end-date of the Mobile Sign Permit; i.e., if the Mobile Sign Permit expires on June 1, 2025, the Mobile Sign Company must have a valid business licence which goes until at least June 2, 2025.
