Water and Wastewater Rate Study
The City of Vaughan is committed to providing water and wastewater rates that are sustainable, fair and affordable, while also sufficient for funding the cost of operating and maintaining the City’s infrastructure.
As part of this commitment, the City reviews its rates every few years or on an as-needed basis to ensure the existing structure remains appropriate.
The City is undergoing a comprehensive review of the current rates and rate structure for the delivery of water and wastewater services to Vaughan residents and businesses.
This study will provide recommendations for sustaining the City’s water and wastewater infrastructure and delivery of services over the next 10 years. It will also:
- evaluate the cost of delivering water and wastewater services.
- conduct a cost-recovery analysis that includes re-evaluating the fairness of the current rate structure to residents and businesses.
- provide opportunities for residents and stakeholders to provide input on potential rate structure options.
Get involved
Throughout June 2026, Vaughan residents and businesses were invited to participate in pop-ups at community centres, take an online survey and submit their comments to the project team through email. Thank you to everyone who shared their feedback. It is important to us and will be considered when developing recommendations on the City’s future water and wastewater rate structure.
