Urban Forestry

The Forestry Operations division is responsible for maintaining more than 135,000 trees and 195 hectares of woodlots.

Tree City of the World

Vaughan’s ongoing commitment to our trees and forests is not going unnoticed! For the fourth consecutive year, the City has been recognized as a Tree City of the World by the Arbor Day Foundation and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization. This international recognition is earned by meeting five key criteria: assigning dedicated leadership for urban tree management, establishing clear policies and best practices, maintaining a comprehensive tree inventory, investing annual funding in tree care, and celebrating trees through community initiatives such as Arbor Week—all of which support a healthy, sustainable urban forest.
