Also known as Maestro Fresh Wes, this Toronto-born multimedia celebrity is the first hip hop artist to receive a JUNO Award for Best Rap Recording of the Year, have a single on the Billboard chart and be inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame. He is also the first Black Canadian artist to have a single or album reach gold and platinum status in Canada. Known for his 1989 debut single “Let Your Backbone Slide” and his debut album “Symphony In Effect,” Wes has performed on national and international stages.

Participants - what is needed before the deadline of Wednesday, June 10, 2026?

1. Participant Agreement Form: Canada Day
2. Payment
   1. $550 + HST for food vendors and businesses (Ice cream vendor spots are sold out for 2026)
   2. $250 + HST for not-for-profit organizations
   3. Pay online with credit card OR by cheque (see details on the agreement form)
3. A Certificate of Insurance naming the Corporation of the City of Vaughan as an additional insured – use the City’s template 

   1. If you are unable to get a Certificate of Insurance, email cityevents@vaughan.ca to find out how to purchase one-day event insurance.

       

      Food vendors also need to provide:

4. The York Region Vendor Application Form will be sent directly to York Region Health Department and provided to Events Staff.
   1. Form is found under “Vendors”:  Food Vendors - York Region Application
5. Any applicable licences (restaurant licence, refreshment vehicle licence, etc.)
   1. Refreshment vehicles must provide a valid City of Vaughan Refreshment Vehicle Licence
   2. Refreshment vehicles that do not have a valid City of Vaughan Refreshment Vehicle Licence must apply for one through the City of Vaughan (additional fees apply)
   3. Non-refreshment vehicles must provide a restaurant or business license along with a food handler certificate.

What to expect as a participant (booths, food vendors)?

• 10'x10' spot unless you have a food truck or purchase additional spaces
• 1 table and 2 chairs will be provided and more can be rented for a small fee
• Situated on grass
• Many booth participants and food vendors bring a 10'x10' tent with tent weights (staking is not permitted); no tent, pavilion, etc. is provided
• Electrical access and Wi-Fi are not available
• Generators are not provided
• No ATM will be available on site.

Your contribution will help provide your community and customers with one of the best event programs, while taking advantage of an outstanding marketing and outreach opportunity in the City of Vaughan. 

There’s NO onsite parking available. There’s park-and-walk available near the event, with limited parking spots at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Elementary School.

What is the date and time of the event? 

Canada Day will take place on Wednesday, July 1 from 1pm-7pm. 

Where is the event being held? 
Canada Day will take place at North Maple Regional Park (11085 Keele Street). 

Is there an entrance fee? Do I have to register to attend?  

No, the event is FREE to attend! Enjoy the full experience without any admission cost. Registration is not required.  

Will the event be postponed due to inclement weather? 

The events take place rain or shine. Check back on this webpage for updates. 

Is there parking available? 
There is NO PARKING on the event site. To avoid parking challenges, we recommend using shuttle bus services. Check back for more details closer to the event date.

Will there be shuttle buses? 
Yes! Shuttle buses will be available to transport attendees to and from the event site, making it easier to get to the event. Check back for more details closer to the event date.

Can I bring a stroller/wheelchair onto the shuttle bus? 

Yes, some shuttle buses at each location are accessible and can accommodate both strollers and wheelchairs. Check back for more details closer to the event date.

Are children allowed at the event? 
Absolutely! The event is family-friendly and offers activities for all ages. Everyone is welcome! 

Can I bring my own food and drinks? 
Yes, you are welcome to bring your own picnic items, snacks, and drinks. We’ll also have a wide variety of food and beverages available for purchase from local vendors! 

Can I bring my own chairs or blankets? 
Yes, feel free to bring your own chairs or blankets to sit on and enjoy the event at your leisure. 

Are pets allowed? 
Pets are welcome if they are leashed at all times. Please be mindful of the crowd and other attendees. 

What types of entertainment will there be?

Will there be restrooms on-site? 
Yes, we’ll have portable washrooms available. Accessible washrooms are also available. 

Is the event wheelchair accessible? 
Yes, the event is fully wheelchair accessible, including pathways, seating areas, and restrooms. 

Are there any COVID-19 precautions in place? 
We are following the local health guidelines to ensure a safe event for everyone. Please check our website for any updates as the event date approaches. 

What should I bring to the event? 
We recommend bringing sunscreen, a hat, comfortable shoes, and your appetite for some delicious food! Don’t forget your picnic items, chairs, and blankets to make your experience even better.

Can I bring alcohol? 

Alcohol is not permitted at this event. We encourage you to enjoy the variety of food and beverages available on-site. 

Will alcohol be sold on site? 

Alcohol will not be sold at the event. However, there will be a variety of other refreshments available for purchase. 

Are there lockers on site? 

Unfortunately, there will not be lockers available at the event. We recommend planning accordingly for your belongings.  

Do the vendors take cash or only debit/credit? 

Most vendors accept debit, credit, and cash; however, not all do, so we recommend bringing both cash and card just in case. Please note, there will be no ATMs available on-site.
