What’s open and closed in Vaughan over the holiday long weekend
City service changes and modified hours from April 3 to 6
As the long weekend approaches, the City of Vaughan is reminding everyone of facility closures, modified hours and alternate programming from Friday, April 3 to Monday, April 6. Here is all you need to know to plan ahead so you can spend quality time with family, friends and loved ones.
Municipal facilities
Most City facilities – including Vaughan City Hall – will be closed from Friday, April 3 to Monday, April 6, reopening on Tuesday, April 7. Essential services, such as Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service and by-law and enforcement services, will continue uninterrupted. Other administrative services will resume on Tuesday, April 7, by phone, email, online and in person.
Community centres and recreational programming
On Friday, April 3 and Sunday, April 5, City community centres will be closed, and recreation programs, swim lessons and drop-in recreational activities will not run. Programs and services will proceed as scheduled on Saturday, April 4 and Monday, April 6.

Vaughan Public Libraries
All Vaughan Public Libraries (VPL) branches will be closed on Friday, April 3, Sunday, April 5 and Monday, April 6. The branches will be open on Saturday, April 4 during regular business hours. To view the hours of operation at all branches, visit vaughanpl.info.
Have fun at home with VPL! With an internet connection and a VPL card, you can enjoy many free online resources available through VPL’s website, including access to eBooks and eAudiobooks, films and television programs, music streaming services, e-learning courses, bilingual materials and more.
Waste collection
Waste collection scheduled for Friday, April 3 will be moved to Saturday, April 4. Please have waste set out by 7 a.m. on your collection day. Crews will be unable to return for waste that was not set out on time. There is no waste collection on Mondays, so waste collection for the week of April 6 will not change.
Vaughan Animal Services
The Vaughan Animal Services shelter will be open to the public on Saturday, April 4. However, the shelter will be closed to the public on Friday, April 3, Sunday, April 5 and Monday, April 6, and will reopen on Tuesday, April 7. You can purchase pet licensing tags online at any time through Service Vaughan. For more information, visit vaughan.ca/AnimalServices.
