Digital signs

You may have noticed digital signs across Vaughan — from small screens at community centres to large displays along major roads like Keele Street and Rutherford Road.

 

In total, there are more than 200 billboards across Vaughan, including City-owned digital signs and a mix of static and digital signs operated by private companies. These range from ground-mounted billboards to digital displays on railway overpasses.

Answer

Digital billboards are permanent, freestanding signs located on City-owned property in high-traffic areas. They are managed by third-party vendors and display both City messages and approved advertising from external organizations. These signs help share timely updates and information with residents while supporting broader community engagement.

In 2024, three digital billboards were installed at the following locations in Vaughan:

  • Joint Operations Centre (2800 Rutherford Rd.)
  • 2268 Highway 7 (at the intersection of Keele Street)
  • 50 Queen Filomena Ave. (between Bathurst Street and Via Romano Boulevard) 

 

As of July 2026, seven new digital billboards will be installed across Vaughan at the following locations: 

  • Al Palladini Community Centre (9201 Islington Ave.)
  • Jean Augustine District Park (1000 New Westminster Dr.)
  • Maple Reservoir Park (10588 Keele St.)
  • Maple Nature Reserve (10401 Dufferin St.)
  • Rainbow Creek Park (5450 Highway 7)
  • Vaughan Grove Sports Park (7401 Martin Grove Rd.)
  • Woodbridge Yard (4630 Langstaff Rd.)

These signs are expected to bring in a total of approximately $10 million in alternative revenue over the next 15 years to the City of Vaughan, which help maintain low taxes and fund city building, programming and other services.

How were residents notified of these digital billboards?

As part of extensive consultation in 2023, the City engaged residents through multiple in-person Open Houses across Vaughan, providing the opportunity to learn more about the program and ask questions.
