West Woodbridge Library

Public libraries play an integral role in the overall well-being of the community, serving not only as sources of information but also providing a space for education and conversation.

The current Father Ermanno Bulfon Community Centre (8141 Martin Grove Rd) was constructed in 1988 and has a long history of serving as a community hub to residents.

The City of Vaughan will be making improvements to the community centre, which include:

  • adding a co-located branch library,
  • facility upgrades to meet accessibility standards under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act,
  • new lobby space and additional program room,
  • and refreshed washrooms with a universal washroom.

Through these initiatives, the West Woodbridge Library will add a vibrant space to an already welcoming Vaughan community.

To safely complete the phased construction, the community centre will be partially open starting late Spring 2026. During this time, you can still visit the community centre to enjoy various activities:

  • Swimming pool
  • Gymnasium & Fitness Centre
  • Bocci courts
  • Program rooms

The future West Woodbridge Library (8141 Martin Grove Rd.) will contain a varied collection of approximately 20,000 items and access to computers for the community. Have questions about the project? Read the answers to your frequently asked questions below.

Answer

Vaughan Public Library released a service study in 2018 that determined that West Woodbridge was an underserved community with potential for growth. West Woodbridge Library is being built to fulfill that need by expanding Vaughan Public Library’s educational reach. Through increased accessibility, improving the use of space, and adding more local activity, the library addition will promote vibrancy and appeal for Martin Grove Ave.

West Woodbridge Library anticipates starting construction in late Spring 2026. We estimate that construction will take approximately 18 months, which would see the library open at the start of January 2028, though, as with any construction project, this may change once work is underway. We will update these FAQs with the latest information we have available.
