Canada Drive-America Avenue Bridge

The City of Vaughan is building a bridge over Highway 400 to connect Canada Drive and America Avenue. Once complete, this bridge will enhance Vaughan’s transportation network, help alleviate traffic and allow residents to travel seamlessly from one community to another. Construction of the bridge is underway and is anticipated to be complete by 2026.

The City awarded the contract to EllisDon Civil Ltd. to undertake the detailed design and construction of the bridge.

Construction update

In April, another significant milestone was achieved! The City’s contractor successfully installed the bridge girders – large horizontal beams – over Highway 400, linking the future bridge to Canada Drive and America Avenue.

Nightly lane closures on Highway 400 will also be required until July 2025. Residential roads will not be impacted by the work.

Keeping Vaughan moving is one of the City’s key priorities, following Council’s endorsement of the Nine Point Action Plan to Fight Traffic Gridlock, which includes projects like the Canada Drive-America Avenue Bridge.
