Canada Drive-America Avenue Bridge

In 2008, the City of Vaughan undertook an Environmental Assessment (EA) study to identify existing and future transportation issues and opportunities in a study area bounded by Teston Road to the north, Jane Street to the east, Major Mackenzie Drive to the south and Weston Road to the west, with Highway 400 dividing the overall study area. AECOM was the consultant retained to lead the EA study and extensive public consultation process.

In December 2013, Council approved the EA study, which determined the preferred solution to be a bridge built over Highway 400 at Canada Drive and America Avenue.

In 2020, the City retained Hatch Ltd. (Hatch) as the Owner's Advisor for the Project to undertake the preliminary design and oversee the construction of the bridge.

The City of Vaughan values public participation and is dedicated to having constructive dialogue with the community and stakeholders about municipal decisions that matter to them, including this project. In 2021, a Survey was made available to seek feedback from the public on the landscaping and streetscaping options within the area. View Survey Results. Following public feedback opportunities and a Public Information Session, the City has incorporated the key findings and results into the design.

The project is currently being tendered and construction is anticipated to begin by Fall of 2023 and completed by Winter 2025. When construction is complete, this bridge will link the local community on either side of Highway 400.

Stay tuned for future project updates!
