Funding available to transform Vaughan’s public spaces with thriving gardens
Calling all green thumbs! Community groups looking to improve local greenspaces can now apply for the City of Vaughan’s Community Planting Fund.
Through the Fund, the City supports the creation of pollinator gardens, rain gardens, Indigenous education gardens and other environmentally beneficial plantings on City-owned or publicly accessible lands, like schools. The fund covers the initial cost of the project installation, and then you’re responsible for the ongoing maintenance of the garden.
Neighbourhood groups, volunteer groups, local organizations, school boards, faith-based groups and non-profit organizations are encouraged to fill out an application form by Monday, March 9 to be considered for funding. Applications will be reviewed by the City’s Horticulture Operations and Community Programs team. Those selected will be contacted directly by the City. Projects will be delivered through collaborative planting events scheduled for May to June 2026 (weather-dependent).
How to apply
Complete the online application form. Each submission must include:
a sketch, map or plan detailing the work
before photos of the site
estimated budget
list of plant species
annual maintenance plan
a letter of permission from the property owner if the project site is not on City-owned land
