  • Building Standards
    The Building Standards Department is responsible for issuance of Building Permits where the submissions conform to the Ontario Building Code, Zoning By-law and all other applicable law. It also provides Inspection services for all new construction.
  • By-law and Compliance, Licensing and Permit Services
    The By-law and Compliance Department provides enforcement services for the City of Vaughan, ensuring compliance with City by-laws and investigating complaints.
  • City Clerk
    The Office of the City Clerk is one of the primary points of contact for Vaughan residents and businesses. It is also an information hub for Members of Council and City staff.
  • City Manager
    The Office of the City Manager ensures the decisions and policy direction of Vaughan Council are effectively implemented in support of the progressive vision of building “a city of choice” that promotes diversity, innovation and opportunities for all citizens.

    The Corporate and Strategic Communications department works with City Council and staff to help get messages about City programs, services and events out to the public. The team ensures messages are clear, consistent and encourage civic participation while supporting Vaughan’s commitment to open, transparent and accessible government.
  • Development Engineering
    Development Engineering staff are responsible for the expeditious review, approval, and inspection and processing of municipal services for land development. This enables the City to establish goals and objectives for land development and adhere to them keeping in mind important social issues, environmental, traffic considerations which promote healthy communities.
  • Development Planning
    Development Planning Department is responsible for the planning and general design of the City through the land use planning process. Land use planning enables the City to establish goals and objectives for growth and development.
  • Economic and Cultural Development
    The Economic and Cultural Development is your source for business information and assistance. Our goal is to help local companies grow their business by bringing businesses, organizations, government and our community together to achieve bold results. We also assist companies that are physically expanding their facilities. The Economic Development team is here to help facilitate development process to ensure that business expansion or relocation proceeds smoothly.
  • Emergency Planning
    The Emergency Planning Department is responsible for ensuring the City has the capacity to manage any emergency situation through training, exercises, plans, procedures, public education, risk identification, mitigation measures and continuity of operations strategies.
  • Environmental Services

  • Facilities Management
    Facility Services is responsible for the operations, maintenance, security and renovation of City of Vaughan municipal buildings, including the maintenance of parks walkway, sports field lighting, waterplay and splash pads.

    The Budgeting and Financial Planning Department is primarily responsible for Operating and Capital Budgeting, Long Range Financial Planning, and Activity Based Costing.

    Provides for Accounting services and Financial reporting, Property Tax billing and collections, as well as Water and Wastewater financial reporting all under the jurisdiction of various provincial statutes.

    The Infrastructure Delivery Department is responsible for capital project programming, design, review, tendering, construction, inspection & asset management of the City's linear and vertical infrastructure.

    Infrastructure Planning and Corporate Asset Management is responsible for: • Infrastructure planning supports the City’s growth management strategy • Protects, negotiates and implements the City’s infrastructure plans during land-use planning and development • Manages the City’s interests on third-party infrastructure planning projects • Develops and Implements the corporate asset management vision

    Internal Audit is an independent, objective assurance and advisory activity designed to add value and improve the City’s operations by assessing risk and suggesting effective controls. The department provides objective and relevant assurance and advice, and contributing to the effectiveness and efficiency of the City’s programs, services and processes.

    The Office of the Chief Human Resources Officer Department supports the City's commitment to Staff Excellence, Service Excellence and Organizational Excellence. We strive to maintain a healthy and vibrant diverse workplace culture.

  • Service Vaughan
    Service Vaughan is the contact centre for the City of Vaughan. Call us with your questions or concerns. Access Vaughan is able to assist callers with general inquiries. If more information or action is required we will put you in touch with the appropriate department for resolution to your inquiry. The hours of operation for the telephone queue are: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

    The Strategic Planning department is responsible for the management and implementation of the Vaughan Vision 2020 Strategic Plan, including managing the corporate planning, strategic and operational performance measurement, project management, business planning and stakeholder consultation.
