Vaughan Lifesaving Club athletes excelled at provincial and national championships!
The City of Vaughan is proud to celebrate the exceptional accomplishments of its Vaughan Lifesaving Club (VLC) athletes who competed in the 2025 Provincial and National Lifesaving/Lifeguarding Championships and brought home an impressive number of medals.
Mayor Steven Del Duca and Members of Council recognized these accomplishments with a special ceremonial presentation during the Oct. 28 Council meeting.
The VLC athletes, including five members of the City’s Recreation Services aquatics team, earned 43 medals at the Provincial Championships, followed by 50 medals at Nationals and an additional bronze medal at the Provincial Lifeguarding competition. The team also contributed to winning the 2025 Ontario Master’s Lifesaving Championship.
Open to everyone, the VLC offers two cohorts — youth, for ages seven to 16 years, and masters, for individuals 18 years and older. Participants train in individual and team lifesaving events, build fitness and teamwork skills, and compete in the National Junior Telegames and Provincial Championships. Registration for the spring session opens soon.
The City offers recreational swimming, aquafitness, swimming lessons and aquatic leadership programs at pools across Vaughan. For program details and schedules, visit vaughan.ca/swim.
