Keep waste accessible – clear the snow off bins and bags
Vaughan is once again blanketed in snow, and while it may be pretty, it can impact curbside waste collection. Remember, waste bins or bags buried in snow or frozen to the bottom, on top of or behind snowbanks will not be collected.
Follow the below tips from the City of Vaughan to help your collection day run smoothly, safely and efficiently in the winter:
- Clear a space in the snow at the curb for your waste bins and bags.
- Place your waste approximately one metre from the curb on the right-hand side of the driveway (when facing the home), where possible.
- Do not place items on top of or behind a snowbank.
- Keep waste bins and bags off the road.
- Ensure waste is placed at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on the day of your scheduled collection.
- When snow is in the forecast for overnight, wait until the morning to place your waste curbside.
Due to the weather, waste collection may be delayed today. It is likely collectors will not get to all homes today. Please leave materials curbside until they are collected. Be sure to dig out your bins and do not put them on top of snowbanks.
