HAPPENING TODAY: Vaughan’s Santafest Parade
Santa Claus is in Vaughan!
Gather your loved ones, Santa hats, blankets and folding chairs, and join us for the City of Vaughan’s Santafest Parade today, Sunday, Nov. 30, at 2 p.m.
Here’s what you need to know to prepare for the parade:
Parade route and timing
The parade will begin at 2 p.m. at the intersection of Springside Road and Melville Avenue, then travel north on Melville Avenue, then east along Major Mackenzie Drive and finish at Vaughan City Hall (2141 Major Mackenzie Dr.).
Where to watch the parade
You can watch the parade anywhere on:
Melville Avenue, from Springside Road to Major Mackenzie Drive.
Major Mackenzie Drive, from Melville Avenue to Keele Street.
Road closures
Residences and businesses along the parade route will be impacted. The following roads are temporarily closed today, Sunday, Nov. 30, from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.:
- Major Mackenzie Drive is closed to all traffic between Melville Avenue and Hill Street.
- Local traffic is permitted from Jane Street to the Fortinos plaza (2911 Major Mackenzie Dr.).
- Local traffic is permitted from Hill Street to Peter Rupert Avenue.
- McNaughton Road is closed to all traffic between Major Mackenzie Drive and Cranston Park Avenue.
- Local traffic is permitted from Cranston Park Avenue to Keele Street.
- Avro Road is closed to all traffic at Major Mackenzie Drive and Melville Avenue.
- Local traffic is permitted between Hudson Drive and Hawker Road.
- Melville Avenue is closed to all traffic between Kelso Crescent and Parktree Drive.
- Local traffic is permitted from Roseheath Drive to Kelso Crescent, and between Parktree Drive and Rutherford Road.
The following restrictions are in place today, Sunday, Nov. 30, from 6 a.m. to approximately 3 p.m. on Springside Road:
Parktree Drive to Melville Avenue is closed.
Jane Street to Parktree Drive is closed, except for residents in the 181 Parktree Dr. townhome complex.
Signage is in place at each road closure to guide traffic through the detour route. Roads will reopen once deemed safe by emergency services.

Park-and-walk options are available along the route at the following parking lots:
Blessed Trinity Catholic Elementary School (230 Hawker Rd.)
Joseph A. Gibson Public School (50 Naylon St.)
Maple Community Centre (10190 Keele St.)
Michael Cranny Elementary School (155 Melville Ave.)
St. David Catholic Elementary School (240 Killian Rd.)
St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School (1 St. Joan of Arc Ave.)
