In February 2022, citizens were invited to attend the first virtual Public Information Session to learn more about the project, view maps and schedules, and ask questions about the proposed improvements, project benefits, outcomes, construction scope and timelines. Thank you to all those who attended.

Starting in spring 2024, the City will be making improvements to this area, including:

• adding new parking spaces.
• adding cycling facilities.
• new streetscaping and landscape features.
• new watermains.
• road rehabilitation.

• The program was launched in October 2019. Phase 1 of the program was substantially completed in December 2020, with more than 22,000 Vaughan streetlights converted to LED technology.

Operating the City of Vaughan’s streetlight network represents approximately 20 per cent of the City’s overall energy consumption. In keeping with the Service Excellence Strategic Plan (2018-2022) for Environmental Stewardship and Operational Performance, the City will change approximately 20,000 streetlights from the current high pressure sodium light bulbs to energy efficient light-emitting diode (LED) technology without adding new streetlight poles or making changes to the physical layout of existing poles.
