Preliminary Design Study for Thomas Cook Avenue
Providing new pedestrian, cycling and vehicle connections in Ward 4
Overview
This study will investigate design options to extend Thomas Cook Avenue between Randolph Dr/Wallenberg Dr to Valley Vista Dr, and for new pedestrian and cycling infrastructure along Thomas Cook Avenue between Major Mackenzie Dr and Rutherford Rd.
The aim of this work is to support future enhancements that promote safe, accessible, and sustainable transportation options for all users of Thomas Cook.
Upcoming Activities
- The Active Transportation Preliminary Design Study will be completed in the coming months.
- Current work on the extension of Thomas Cook Avenue will be finalized, and further work will proceed upon budget approval.

Answer
- The area on Thomas Cook Avenue, between Valley Vista Drive and Randolph Drive/Wallenberg Drive, is being studied to connect the missing link of approximately 490 metres in this area.
- The area on Thomas Cook Avenue, from Randolph Drive/Wallenberg Drive to Rutherford Road, is also being explored to increase access to active transportation facilities for walking and cycling.
