What is Stormwater?

However, hard surfaces — such as pavement, parking lots, driveways, sidewalks and roofs — especially in urban areas, can prevent stormwater runoff from naturally soaking into the ground, which can lead to flooding and erosion of downstream water courses, such as rivers and streams. That’s why the City works diligently to maintain its vital stormwater infrastructure – such as catch basins, storm sewers and stormwater management ponds – to help prevent this from happening.

Vaughan Studios & Event Space

A new, 19,000-square-foot recreation venue with a rooftop terrace has opened!

Located at 200 Apple Mill Road, north of Highway 7, the third level space is within walking distance to the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Subway Station.

Its design parallels the modern, urban lifestyle of the area and features sophisticated, state-of-the-art amenities for the community to enjoy, including:

Managing Spongy Moths

Spongy moths have natural enemies that aid in reducing the population in highly infested areas. These include soil-borne bacteria, squirrels, chipmunks, raccoons, skunks, more than 15 species of birds and several native insects. The manual removal and destruction of egg masses also drastically reduces the presence of caterpillars the following season.

Windrow Clearing

A windrow is a pile of snow left at the bottom of a driveway after a snowplow has cleared the road.

Windrow machines are designed to clear a portion of the driveway entrance so a car can drive through. However, due to the limited size and reach of the windrow-clearing units, they can only clear a portion of the driveway entrance – residual amounts of snow may be left behind.
