Preliminary Design Study of the Grand Trunk Avenue
Providing new pedestrian, cycling and vehicle connections in Ward 4
Overview
This study will investigate design options to extend Grand Trunk Avenue between Ahchie Ct and District Av, and for new pedestrian and cycling infrastructure along Grand Trunk Avenue between Major Mackenzie Dr and Rutherford Rd.
The aim of this work is to support future enhancements that promote safe, accessible, and sustainable transportation options for all users of Grand Trunk.
Upcoming Activities
- The Active Transportation Preliminary Design Study will be completed in the coming months.
- Current work on the extension of Grand Trunk Avenue will be finalized, and further work will proceed upon budget approval.

Answer
- The area on Grand Trunk Avenue, between Ahchie Court and District Avenue is being studied to connect the missing link of approximately 200 metres.
The area along Grand Trunk Drive, from Ahchie Court to Major Mackenzie Drive, and from District Avenue to Rutherford Road, is also being explored to increase access to multi-modal facilities, to increase active transportation such as walking and cycling.
