Every month, the City releases a series called ‘You Asked, We Answered,’ where common questions received and responded to by Service Vaughan are highlighted. 

 

Below are the top five inquiries from May: 

 

1. What outdoor events are being hosted by the City this summer?

 

From Canada Day celebrations to Vaughan Celebrates Concerts in the Park, there are many free outdoor family-friendly events taking place in Vaughan all summer long! A few upcoming events include:

 

  • Vaughan Celebrates Concerts in the Park: There are six concerts on select Wednesdays from June 18 to July 30, weather permitting, from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. This year’s schedule will feature professional entertainment for all ages with genres like disco, pop, oldies and rock.
  • Vaughan Celebrates Canada Day: Celebrate with us on Tuesday, July 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at North Maple Regional Park (11085 Keele St, Vaughan). This event will feature live stage entertainment, activities for all ages, a food zone, a marketplace with vendor booths and so much more.

2. How do I register for summer camps and summer recreation programs?

 

Registration is open for summer recreation programs, summer swim lessons and aquatic leadership courses at vaughan.perfectmind.com. Programming begins on Monday, June 30 at all community centres, the City Playhouse Theatre and the Vaughan Studios & Event Space, including a number of different outdoor locations. Summer camp registration is also underway! Summer camps will begin on Monday, June 30 with one- and two-week sessions running until the end of August. Camps are located at Vaughan community centres, heritage homes, parks, the City Playhouse Theatre and Vaughan Studios & Event Space for children ages four to 16 years old. 3. Where do I report missed waste collection?

 

You can report missed recycling, organics, garbage and leaf and yard waste collection online at vaughan.ca/ServiceVaughan under the ‘Garbage and Recycling’ section.

 

Blue box, green bin, garbage and yard waste items are collected on your scheduled collection day. Items should be placed at the curb in the morning and no later than 7 a.m. on the day of your scheduled collection. Collectors will not return for materials set out late. Visit vaughan.ca/waste to learn more about the City’s waste services.

 

You can also download the Recycle Coach app through the Apple App Store or Google Play for waste-less tips and a personalized collection schedule with optional alerts on what to put at the curb each week.

 

4. How can I report a sick, injured or dead animal?

 

As recommended by the Public Health Agency of Canada, members of the public should not handle sick, injured or dead wild birds or other wildlife, as they may be infected with diseases that can spread to humans.

 

If you see a sick, injured or dead wild animal, report it to Vaughan Animal Services as soon as possible by: 

  • calling 905-832-2281, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. If you’re calling after hours, press “0” to reach the after-hours dispatch team. Officers are available 24-7 to respond to calls about sick or injured wildlife.
  • emailing animal.services@vaughan.ca.

5. When do the City’s splashpads open?

 

The City’s splashpads are open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., subject to weather and surface conditions.
