Vaughan unveils plaque to recognize the Woodbridge Horticultural Society’s 100 years of beautifying the community
The Woodbridge Horticultural Society has worked tirelessly to beautify the Woodbridge core for more than a century. To celebrate their incredible contributions, the City of Vaughan unveiled a plaque today in their honour on the south side of the Woodbridge Avenue bridge.
Their vast contributions include planting, maintaining and caring for local gardens at Memorial Hill Park, Woodbridge Post Office, Kleinburg Public School, the Historic Wallace House, Fred Armstrong Parkette and the Old Firehall Parkette, and decorating the bridges on Woodbridge Avenue, Islington Avenue and Clarence Street. Members of the Woodbridge Horticultural Society also organize annual Garden Tours, and support the Christmas in the Village events and the Woodbridge Fall Fair, and raise funds to purchase materials to support beautification projects.
This plaque dedication follows Council support of a Member’s Resolution (PDF) brought forward by Ward 2 Councillor Adriano Volpentesta in September 2025.
