Vaughan shines bright with our Diwali celebration!

On Oct. 16, members of the community joined Mayor Steven Del Duca and Members of Council in marking Diwali with a vibrant celebration at Vaughan City Hall.

The City of Vaughan’s third annual Diwali event featured greetings from Mayor Del Duca, traditional music and dance performances, and more.

Diwali is a major religious festival for Hindus, Jains, Sikhs and Buddhists that brings families together to reflect, give thanks and look toward the promise of the new year ahead.

“It was a truly special evening at Vaughan City Hall as we celebrated Diwali. Many families within the community came out to enjoy the festivities, which featured wonderful traditional music and dance performances,” said Mayor Del Duca.

“Diwali is a meaningful celebration, representing the spiritual victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance. Thank you to the City staff who put together this incredible event, and to everyone who joined us at City Hall. To all who celebrate, please accept my best wishes for a joyful Diwali and a prosperous year ahead.”
