Vaughan celebrates the true meaning of Christmas with a new Nativity Scene Display
On Dec. 10, the community joined Mayor Steven Del Duca and Members of Council at Vaughan City Hall to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas with the official recognition of the City of Vaughan’s Nativity Scene Display.
This event included official remarks, blessings, music and more.
“Christmas is a significant time for Christians in Vaughan and around the world. That is why I am pleased to honour this meaningful occasion further with a nativity scene displayed at Vaughan City Hall each year,” said Mayor Steven Del Duca. “The nativity scene symbolizes the story of the birth of Jesus Christ and celebrates the true meaning of Christmas. Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate the new display. I would also like to express my sincere thanks to Regional Auxiliary Bishop John Boissonneau for being a part of this event and providing blessings. I look forward to this new annual tradition, and I hope everyone has a peaceful and joyful Christmas.”
“I am pleased to be a part of this new initiative, which displays a nativity scene at Vaughan City Hall annually during the Christmas season,” said Ward 2 Councillor Adriano Volpentesta. “At the City of Vaughan, we are proud to celebrate the traditions that bring people together and showcase the spirit of our community. The Nativity Scene Display is a reminder of the love and hope at the heart of this special holiday. I wish everyone a wonderful Christmas!”
You are welcome to come by Vaughan City Hall (2141 Major Mackenzie Dr.) to view the nativity scene, which will remain on display until the Epiphany on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026. Please note, City of Vaughan municipal offices will be observing a Festive Closure from noon on Wednesday, Dec. 24 until Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026.
This initiative comes following Council support of a Members’ Resolution brought forward by Mayor Del Duca and Councillor Volpentesta in November 2025 to have a nativity scene at City Hall for this and all future Christmas seasons.
