Join us for a morning of learning, connecting and entertainment on March 8

International Women’s Day is a global celebration, acknowledging and honouring women’s achievements and challenges. It’s also an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to removing barriers to advance gender equality in our communities.

To recognize the significant contributions of women across generations, the City of Vaughan is hosting its annual International Women’s Day event on Friday, March 8. Join us at Vaughan City Hall, 2141 Major Mackenzie Dr., from 9 a.m. to noon for a morning of learning, connecting and entertainment.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Invest in women: Accelerate progress,” echoing the UN Women’s initiative to highlight strategies for fostering inclusive and equitable societies through the economic empowerment of women and girls.

The event will feature:

  • official remarks from Mayor Steven Del Duca.
  • a networking space where women-led organizations and organizations that offer services supporting women and girls in Vaughan can showcase their work while leaders and entrepreneurs share how they drive transformative change in our city and region.
  • a keynote address by Suzanne Knight, MBA, MA, an award-winning expert on transformational change and the future of work.
  • music by DJ MB.

QUOTE

“On International Women’s Day, we reflect on a world where genders are equal, and free of gender bias, stereotypes and discrimination. It’s an opportunity to celebrate the exceptional contributions of women and girls throughout history. I’m reminded of the strength my mom instilled in me growing up, and the unconditional love she has shown me since. My wife, Utilia, and my daughters, show me that when women receive support and equal opportunities, they can change the world for the better. I hope you’re able to join us on Friday, March 8 at Vaughan City Hall for a morning of networking and celebration.”

- Mayor Steven Del Duca
