Vaughan strengthens collaboration with federal and provincial partners to advance key priorities
The City of Vaughan continues to champion the community’s priorities through strong partnerships across all levels of government. Today, Mayor Steven Del Duca and Members of Council hosted federal and provincial representatives for a roundtable aimed at strengthening collaboration and advancing shared goals for Vaughan’s future.
The discussion focused on critical City-building objectives and public policy issues, including:
- Community safety and residents’ well-being
- Transportation and mobility, with an emphasis on the Council-approved Nine Point Action Plan to Fight Traffic Gridlock
- Housing accessibility and affordability, particularly for first-time homebuyers
This is the second roundtable of its kind in Vaughan, designed to talk about issues top of mind for residents. It comes following Mayor Del Duca’s and Regional Councillor Mario Ferri’s Member’s Resolution Strengthening Intergovernmental Relations Collaboration and Advocacy 2025-2026 Members’ Resolution (PDF).
Today’s roundtable brought together all levels of government to encourage open dialogue and share valuable insights, reinforcing advocacy efforts for the remainder of the 2022-2026 Council term.
QUOTES
“We can – and have – achieved a lot as a city. Even so, we need all levels of government to continue delivering results for Vaughan. Fostering relationships with our federal and provincial partners is a key component of our city-building strategy, and we are stronger when we are united and working together toward a common goal. This discussion is another step forward to making real progress happen. I want to thank our local representatives at all levels for their continued meaningful discussions, partnership and support as we shape a bright future for our city.”
- Mayor Steven Del Duca
“This roundtable discussion was an excellent opportunity for Mayor Steven Del Duca, my Council colleagues and I to speak on matters that are most important to us and to our residents. With the information exchanged in this discussion, the Intergovernmental Relations Sub-Committee will play a key role in advocating for and advancing City priorities and keeping track of our progress.
