It’s National Procurement Month and the City of Vaughan is recognizing the vital role our procurement professionals play in building strong partnerships, driving value for taxpayers and keeping the city moving forward.

The City’s Procurement Services team is setting the standard for smart, strategic and forward-thinking procurement and delivers innovative, transparent and results-driven solutions – all while upholding the highest ethical standards.

The department is responsible for the acquisition of goods, services, capital construction projects and equipment for the City and Vaughan Public Libraries. To secure goods and services, the City uses a competitive process where businesses can bid for work. New bid opportunities are posted to the dedicated bids and tenders website, allowing easy access for businesses to register for open opportunities.

Award-winning procurement practices

The efforts of this essential team have been recognized nationally! In October 2025, the City received the 2025 Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award from the National Procurement Institute. This is the eighth consecutive year the City of Vaughan has won. The award is earned by organizations that demonstrate excellence by achieving a high score based on standardized criteria designed to measure innovation and best practices in public procurement.

The City also earned accreditation for Quality Public Procurement from the Institute of Public Procurement (NIGP). This accreditation extends for three years and expires at the end of June 2026. It recognizes excellence in public procurement and is presented to organizations that elevate the procurement profession's standard of practice and enhance credibility and recognition for their procurement department.
