Join us at Vaughan’s Pride Month celebration on June 16

To recognize Pride Month in June, the City of Vaughan is hosting its annual Pride Month event at Vaughan City Hall (2141 Major Mackenzie Dr.). Join us on Tuesday, June 16 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. outside in the courtyard and in the Vaughan Room.

This FREE event will feature official remarks from Mayor Steven Del Duca, a flag-raising ceremony, community remarks and refreshments.

Pride is an annual observance, celebrating and recognizing the Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer, and other gender and sexually diverse (2SLGBTQ+) communities, their histories, achievements and ongoing struggles for equal rights and acceptance. This event is a celebration of 2SLGBTQ+ social and self-acceptance, achievements, legal rights and pride, serving as a platform to promote diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging for the 2SLGBTQ+ community.

Pre-registration is encouraged. Confirm your attendance for the event online.

The City has proclaimed Pride Week every year since 2003 and Pride Month since 2020, and celebrated through various events, including the raising of the rainbow flag during Pride Week and hosting official flag-raising ceremonies. This year, the City has once again proclaimed June as Pride Month and will commemorate it through this community Pride event and flag-raising ceremony.

QUOTE

“Every June, the City of Vaughan is proud to recognize Pride Month. At its core, it’s a celebration of love, identity and authenticity, and a moment to honour those who have fought, and continue to fight, for equity, justice and human rights. In Vaughan, we are committed to building a city where everyone feels safe, respected and empowered to be their true and authentic selves. I look forward to joining residents on June 16 at Vaughan City Hall for our Pride event, and I encourage everyone to take part in the flag raising and share in this important celebration. Happy Pride!”

- Mayor Steven Del Duca
