With long sunny days, warm weather and beautiful blooms all around, summer is a popular time for couples to tie the knot. The City of Vaughan offers civil marriage ceremonies and vow renewal ceremonies at Vaughan City Hall (2141 Major Mackenzie Dr.), providing a welcoming setting for couples to exchange vows and celebrate the start of their next chapter or renew the bonds of love with family and friends.

To book a civil marriage ceremony:

  1. Book a ceremony. Use the City’s online booking tool to schedule your ceremony.
  2. Attend a consultation. Once an officiant has been assigned to your ceremony, you will be scheduled for a pre-ceremony consultation.

To book a vow renewal ceremony:

  1. Contact the City. Reach out to the Office of the City Clerk by phone at 905-832-8504, by email at marriage@vaughan.ca or visit Vaughan City Hall.
  2. Schedule a date. Ceremonies are available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Evening and weekend options may be available based on officiant availability. Bookings can be made up to three months in advance.
  3. Attend a consultation. Once an officiant is assigned, you will be scheduled for a pre-ceremony consultation to confirm details and complete a questionnaire.

Here are a few key details to keep in mind before you walk down the aisle:

  • The ceremony room accommodates up to 40 people (including the couple, officiant, witnesses and guests).
  • The ceremony fee is
    • $519.80 for civil ceremonies conducted during business hours;
    • $639.58 for civil ceremonies held in the evenings or on the weekends; and
    • $352.56 for vow renewal ceremonies.
  • Fees are payable by debit, cheque, Visa or MasterCard at the Office of the City Clerk during business hours, any time before your ceremony date.

  • Music is not provided and there is no speaker system.
  • Guests are welcome to take their own photos and videos of this special event.

To make this event beautiful, dignified and intimate, our Civil Ceremony Information Package (PDF) or Vow Renewal Ceremony Information Package (PDF) can help you plan your special day. Please fill out the questionnaire and submit it at your consultation. There are three options of vows to choose from, or you may include custom vows (which may be inserted between the mandatory declarations required under the Ontario Marriage Act for civil ceremonies).

More information about civil marriage ceremonies, marriage licences, vow renewal services, bookings and requirements is available on the City’s marriage services webpage.
