Each December, the City of Vaughan brings the community together for the annual Christmas Tree Lighting. This year, the City invites everyone to tune in virtually tonight at 7 p.m. to vaughan.ca/festive to see the tree in the courtyard of City Hall come to life!

During the event, Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua will extend greetings and together with Members of Council will countdown to light up the tree. Community events, such as the annual Christmas Tree Lighting, provide an opportunity for everyone to celebrate the festive season, foster community togetherness and experience Vaughan’s unique diversity.

QUOTE

“I invite citizens in Vaughan and beyond to join us virtually tonight as we bring the City of Vaughan’s Christmas tree to life! This year’s tree is a Colorado Blue Spruce from Drysdale’s Tree Farm in Egbert, Ontario, and at 36-feet tall, wrapped with 35,000 LED lights, it is sure to be a spectacular event you will not want to miss. The annual Christmas Tree Lighting is something I personally look forward to each year. It is an opportunity for us to take stock of our many blessings and rejoice in the spirit of the season. The holidays are a special time of the year, and, in Vaughan, the lighting of the tree is more than just a festive tradition. It serves as a symbol of the hope, love and light that radiates throughout our city. When we reflect on 2021, we have many significant city-building achievements to be proud of, and I want to thank the citizens of Vaughan for their meaningful contributions. Our city’s transformation is only just beginning, and I look forward to continuing this journey together. As we prepare to celebrate the holidays and welcome the new year, I wish all citizens happiness, health and peace. For Vaughan, the best is yet to come!”
