School crossing guards play an important role in Vaughan. Today, on School Crossing Guard Appreciation Day, the City of Vaughan wants to recognize and thank the dedicated team of 114 crossing guards who help children safely travel to and from school each day.

Vaughan declares a Significant Weather Event
he City of Vaughan has declared a Significant Weather Event starting Wednesday, March 23, based on a Freezing Rain Warning issued by Environment Canada. Conditions are favourable for freezing rain resulting in ice accumulation of one to two millimetres and strong winds gusting up to 60 kilometres per hour leading to possible local power outages.

In March 2021, the City of Vaughan launched a one-of-a-kind, holistic MoveSmart Mobility Management Strategy (MoveSmart) in response to the population growth and increase in travel demand in this thriving community. Now, just one year later, MoveSmart has made progress on a number of road safety and active and sustainable travel initiatives to help meet the city’s existing and evolving transportation needs.

Another local off-leash dog area is coming to Thornhill
Where should a local off-leash dog area be located in Thornhill? The City of Vaughan is looking to develop another local off-leash dog area in the community and is asking residents to help identify a preferred spot. Three potential parks east of Bathurst Street are under consideration – York Hill District Park (330 York Hill Blvd.), Winding Lane Park (580 York Hill Blvd.) and Gallanough Park (21 Springfield Way). Take the survey to share your preference!
