Festival of Lights - About the Program

Festive lights and decorations are a hallmark of the holiday season, and, for many cultures and faiths, they are a meaningful symbol to get the community in the festive spirit at this time of year. The City of Vaughan is excited to introduce a new Festive Lights program this winter to recognize those who go above and beyond to decorate their homes and properties with exceptional pride in their light displays. The program provides an opportunity for residents to celebrate each other’s cultures and Vaughan’s diversity.

You're invited to celebrate the official kick-off of the Festival of Lights program!

Entertainment, hot chocolate and the unveiling - and first illumination - of a new Vaughan sign!

 

Festival of Lights - Program (Nov 12-Feb 1)

Starting on Sunday, Nov. 12, residents and businesses in Vaughan are invited to nominate themselves, a neighbour or a business whose lights shine bright! Nominations can be emailed to festivecelebrations@vaughan.ca by Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024; please include the property owner’s name, contact email, address and photos of their festive lights. Entries will be selected based on the following criteria:  

  • Design incorporates the use of energy-efficient lights.
  • Overall esthetic of the property is visually appealing.
  • Property uses lights 
  • Property shows creativity in design.
  • Property is well maintained.

Those selected will be contacted to pick up a Festive Lights sign at their local community centre to display on their front lawn or window.
