VFRS shares tips for barbecue season

 

With warm weather in the forecast, many people will be lighting up the barbecue to cook a nice meal – remember to do so safely! Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service (VFRS) is serving up fire safety and prevention tips to help keep you and your loved ones safe over the long weekend and beyond.

 

When barbecuing, keep these safety tips top of mind:

Splashpads are now open on weekends!

Looking for a way for your kids to cool off during a long day of play? Bring them to one of Vaughan’s splashpads for a fun, free summer activity that’s sure to keep them busy!

 

Starting today, many of the City of Vaughan’s splashpads will be open on weekends from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.! Please note, splashpad openings are subject to weather and surface conditions.

 

Dos and don’ts of fireworks for Victoria Day

Another long weekend is around the corner! Victoria Day is one of only two days you can light fireworks in Vaughan without a permit each year. But do you know how to handle them safely? If you plan to use fireworks on Monday, May 19, there are some important safety steps to follow before, during and after you set them off.

Vaughan’s annual event is on May 26 at City Hall

 

Mark your calendars and let’s get ready to party! The City of Vaughan is hosting its third annual South Asian Heritage Month celebration – and you’re invited! 

 

Join Mayor Steven Del Duca and Members of Council at our special event on Monday, May 26 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Vaughan City Hall (2141 Major Mackenzie Dr.).
