Vaughan’s first indoor soccer dome officially opens at North Maple Regional Park!
Vaughan’s first-ever indoor soccer dome – the Treasure Hill Soccer Centre – is now officially open at North Maple Regional Park (NMRP), offering a year-round space for players of all ages to enjoy.
This week, Mayor Steven Del Duca, Members of Council, members of the Vaughan Soccer Club and the Treasure Hill Homes team held a special event to commemorate the grand opening of the soccer dome and welcomed the community into the new facility for the first time.
This project was made possible through a partnership between the City and Vaughan Soccer Club. The Vaughan Soccer Club led and directly funded $7.3 million toward the construction of the dome, while the City invested $1.86 million to develop the parking lot and provide service for the facility. Treasure Hill Homes supported the project with an in-kind donation of $700,000 to Vaughan Soccer Club, which covered the vestibule and naming rights.
Together, the City and Vaughan Soccer Club collaborated to design, build, operate and maintain the soccer dome.
Located at 11085 Keele St. within NMRP, the soccer dome features an 11 versus 11 artificial turf field and supports year-round indoor programming, providing athletes consistent access to high-quality training and play regardless of the weather.
This new first-of-its-kind facility at NMRP supports the City’s long-term vision to create a nationally significant park that focuses on restoring nature, sharing culture, promoting active living and building community.
The development of NMRP is a key priority for Vaughan. The site has a rich history, once serving as the third-largest landfill in North America. Vaughan CARES, a group of residents, played a key role in closing the landfill in 2002. Since then, the City has worked to transform the area into parkland guided by the principles of Restore, Engage and Play. NMRP is being developed as a signature destination for Vaughan and beyond.
QUOTES
“Building complete communities is one of my main priorities as Mayor. This includes creating spaces for recreation and play where residents, no matter their age, ability or skill level, can come together and make the most of them. This week, I had the pleasure of unveiling Vaughan’s first indoor soccer dome at the beautiful North Maple Regional Park! With the increasing demand for soccer fields in the city, the Treasure Hill Soccer Centre will allow for year-round play for youth and adult recreational and competitive soccer programs. This project represents a significant step toward transforming North Maple Regional Park into a 900-acre premier destination, featuring a variety of sports facilities, recreational amenities and cultural programming. I want to thank the City’s project team for their efforts and our partners at Vaughan Soccer Club and Treasure Hill Homes for their great collaboration throughout this process. Now it’s time to put on your cleats and hit the field!”
- Mayor Steven Del Duca
“We are thrilled to offer this incredible facility to our members and the community. This dome is more than a structure – it’s a symbol of our vision and dedication. As the largest club in York Region, we felt that operating our own dome would allow us to provide our members with an indoor facility they can truly call home.”
