Vaughan wins Project of the Year award for Gallanough Park Stormwater Management Improvements!
The City of Vaughan has received first place in the Professional Engineers of Ontario’s York Chapter 2024 Engineering Project of the Year Award for the Gallanough Park Stormwater Management Improvements project!
The Engineering Project of the Year Award recognizes outstanding technical projects within the community and showcases the achievements of local businesses, while promoting the practice of professional engineering.
The Gallanough Park Stormwater Management Improvements project focused on upgrading stormwater infrastructure in one of Vaughan’s community parks. This included constructing a new underground stormwater management facility in the park, building a storm relief sewer and installing an overland stormwater relief path. These upgrades will help reduce the risk of flooding, improve the quality of water entering local waterways and ensure the stormwater system can better withstand changing weather patterns.
Beyond its technical benefits, the project also contributed to the recreational and environmental value of Gallanough Park. The park’s new design improves biodiversity and habitat for local wildlife, while creating a more sustainable and enjoyable public space for residents to use year-round.
This project reflects the City’s ongoing commitment to investing in resilient infrastructure that benefits residents today and for years to come. Learn more about the project at vaughan.ca/Gallanough.
