Get ready for fun-filled Family Day recreation programs in Vaughan on Monday, Feb. 16.Take advantage of the day off by signing your children up for affordable programs, many costing just $5, with all proceeds donated to RecAssist. Here are some program highlights!
Craft with Me: Winter Animals (for ages two to four years old)
Does your little one enjoy getting hands-on with crafts? Let your imaginations run wild while you and your child create winter animals. Participants will paint, cut, colour and glue as they bring their creations to life. All supplies are included. One parent or guardian may attend per registered child. This program is offered at:
- Garnet A. Williams Community Centre (501 Clark Ave.)
- North Thornhill Community Centre (300 Pleasant Ridge Ave.)
Vellore Village Community Centre (1 Villa Royale Ave.)
Disney Inspired Fitness Fun (for ages three to five years old)
Bring a little magic to your workout with Disney-inspired exercises. Participants will move, stretch, jog and jump to upbeat Disney music in a fun and energetic environment. Giggles are guaranteed, and dressing up as your favourite Disney character is encouraged. This program is available at:

- North Thornhill Community Centre (300 Pleasant Ridge Ave.)
Vellore Village Community Centre (1 Villa Royale Ave.)
Family Pickleball (for ages seven to 12 years old)
This program combines elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis, with a similar court, net and rules. Through friendly singles and doubles gameplay, participants will learn basic shots, court awareness and scoring. This program is available at:

Other Family Day programs
Paint Your Own Pottery: “Home” Décor Piece (for ages three years and older)
Delivered in partnership with Mess for Fun, this hands-on workshop invites participants to paint a one-of-a-kind pottery piece using specialty paints. Finished pieces will be glazed and kiln-fired, then packaged and ready for pickup the following week at the community centre. The workshop includes one ready-to-paint pottery piece and all supplies. Children aged three to six must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. This program is available at:

Family Day Rec Swims and Rec Skates
Registration and prepayment are available online at vaughan.perfectmind.com up to seven days in advance for residents and four days in advance for non-residents. Standard admission fees apply to all Family Day recreational swims. During registration, participants will have the option to make a donation to RecAssist.

- Maple Community Centre (10190 Keele St.) from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Family Day Rec Skates
- Al Palladini Community Centre (9201 Islington Ave.) from noon to 2 p.m.
- Maple Community Centre (10190 Keele St.) from 12:15 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
- Rosemount Community Centre (1000 New Westminster Dr.) from 12:15 p.m. to 2 p.m.
