The City of Vaughan stands at the forefront of procurement services, dedicated to upholding the highest standard of ethical practices. Vaughan’s Procurement Services team’s commitment to upholding the highest ethical standards in procurement practices is fundamental to the City’s ongoing success.

Since 2020, Vaughan Council has proclaimed March as National Procurement Month, a testament to the City’s appreciation and acknowledgement of the invaluable contributions made by its staff in ensuring operations run smoothly.

Our Procurement Services department plays an important role in driving value for money for the City and its residents through fair competition and leading procurement practices. The department is responsible for the acquisition of goods and services for the City and Vaughan Public Libraries.

To secure goods and services, the department uses a competitive process through which businesses can bid for work. New bid opportunities are posted to the dedicated bids and tenders website, allowing easy access for businesses to register for open opportunities.

Award-winning procurement practices

The efforts of this fundamental team have been recognized in a big way! In October 2023, the City earned accreditation for Quality Public Procurement from The Institute for Public Procurement (NIGP). This accreditation extends for three years and expires in 2026. It recognizes excellence in public procurement and is presented to organizations that elevate the procurement profession's standard of practice and realize greater credibility and recognition for their procurement department.

The City also received the 2023 Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award from the National Procurement Institute. This is the sixth consecutive year the City has received this award, which is earned by organizations that demonstrate excellence by obtaining a high score based on standardized criteria. The criteria are designed to measure innovation, professionalism, productivity, e-procurement and leadership attributes of the procurement organization.
