Join Vaughan to honour Canada’s brave service members at tomorrow’s Remembrance Day service

Join Mayor Steven Del Duca and Members of Council tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 11, from 10:30 a.m. to noon for the City of Vaughan’s Remembrance Day service at the Woodbridge Cenotaph, also known as the Woodbridge Memorial Tower (80 Wallace St.).

Following the service, join us at the Woodbridge Pool and Memorial Arena (5020 Highway 7) for refreshments. Please note, Wallace Street will be closed from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. that day, and parking will be available at Woodbridge Pool and Memorial Arena.

As part of the day’s commemorations, the Wallace House (137 Woodbridge Ave.) will be open, featuring displays of military uniforms, newspaper clippings and photographs related to the First World War and Second World War. You are invited to explore these meaningful exhibits and reflect on the sacrifices of our veterans.

In recognition of the City’s commitment to commemorating the remarkable courage and dedication of our veterans and following Mayor Steven Del Duca’s Member’s Resolution at the Oct. 28 Council meeting, a crosswalk has been installed at the intersection of Woodbridge Avenue and Wallace Street to honour those who have served in the Canadian Armed Forces.

Throughout the month, you are also encouraged to share thoughts of remembrance and messages of peace on the City’s Poppy Mural at Vaughan City Hall (2141 Major Mackenzie Dr.). There, you can also view this year’s historical exhibit that pays tribute to the wartime experiences of those from Vaughan and York Region who served during the Second World War. The exhibit will be on display until Friday, Nov. 14 and available online for one year.
