The City of Vaughan is continuing work on a master plan for MacMillan Farm, located at 9605 Dufferin St., just north of Marc Santi Boulevard. This plan will guide the transformation of the property into a special place where residents can connect with nature, celebrate heritage and enjoy year-round recreation – and you can help shape the plan!

Would you like to see ecological features like a wildlife habitat or a cultural space to celebrate art and history? What about trails or picnic areas for social gatherings? We want to hear from you!

Get involved

Attend an Open House to learn more about the project and have a say on future amenities and features for MacMillan Farm. Here are the details:

  • Thursday, Sept. 25, drop by any time from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Carrville Community Centre, Activity Room 4 (655 Thomas Cook Ave.)

Can’t attend in person? You can still have a say! Share your thoughts by taking an online survey, which will be available from Friday, Sept. 26 to Monday, Oct. 20 at vaughan.ca/MacMillan.

What we heard in Phase 1

In the first phase of engagement, residents shared a desire for:

  • a local destination that blends nature and habitat protection, education about local heritage and community-oriented features.
  • amenities such as trails, picnic zones, flexible spaces for gatherings and heritage tours and signage to reflect the farm’s cultural and Indigenous history.
  • opportunities for urban agriculture through community gardens, “pick-your-own” produce and pollinator-friendly features.
  • seasonal markets.

Why is the City undertaking the MacMillan Farm Master Plan study?

MacMillan Farm is a unique part of Vaughan’s history, with deep agricultural and natural roots. The land, nestled in an urban area, is home to barns, heritage homes, sprawling fields, forests, a nature reserve, informal pathways and a creek. As the city continues to grow, this site presents an opportunity to create a space that blends heritage preservation with new amenities for the community to enjoy. Once complete, the master plan will guide a future space that will not only honour the land’s past but also create new options for leisure, culture and connection, and provide a gathering place for residents of all ages and abilities. Your input will help us create a destination that reflects the needs of the community.
