A new place to play and gather is coming to the Ward 2 community – Saigon Park. Located in the area at Rutherford Road and Highway 27, this future district park will celebrate and honour Vaughan’s South Vietnamese community, while providing a space for residents and visitors of all ages to enjoy.

Earlier today, Mayor Steven Del Duca, Members of Council and members from the Vietnamese community came together to mark this exciting milestone and officially announce the park’s future development.

In February 2024, Vaughan Council approved a Member’s Resolution to name this future district park “Saigon Park,” recognizing the rich history and contributions of Vaughan’s South Vietnamese community. Spanning over 8.8 hectares (22 acres) of land, the park will feature a mix of recreational amenities alongside a thoughtfully designed dedicated area for cultural commemoration.

Community input will play a central role in shaping Saigon Park. Later this year, residents will be invited to share their ideas on how the park can be used and how the South Vietnamese community can be meaningfully honoured within the space.

Saigon Park will be open for play in 2030 and will represent a place where culture, community and connection can come together.
