During the Canada Post labour disruption, some City of Vaughan services and programs will be affected.

The City is committed to ensuring residents and businesses can access services and programs with minimal disruption.

Contingency plans are in place to provide alternative options for items normally delivered and received by mail.

Many requests can be made online 24-7 at vaughan.ca/ServiceVaughan. This includes everything from paying parking penalties; to requesting services related to parks, trees and grass on City property; to online permitting for building, engineering and business licences, among many others.

Contact Service Vaughan at 905-832-2281 or service@vaughan.ca with questions about the impacts of the Canada Post labour disruption.

Here’s what you need to know:

Accounts payable

Vendors who want to pick up cheques can go to the Service Vaughan welcome desk on the main floor at Vaughan City Hall (2141 Major Mackenzie Dr.). From there, they will be directed to the third-floor counter to pick up their cheque.

Council, Committees and Boards

Statutory Public Notices for upcoming Council and Committees are available online on the City’s Public Notices webpage.

Document requests

If you’re looking for City literature, tax applications, a waste collection schedule or other information, visit vaughan.ca or contact Service Vaughan to pick up the requested documents. Alternatively, submit a request via email at service@vaughan.ca and an electronic copy will be sent to you.

Land Use Planning and Committee of Adjustment Notice of Public Meeting

Statutory Notices for Planning and Committee of Adjustment applications will continue to be posted online, and a physical sign will still be posted on the property. If you have any questions, contact clerks@vaughan.ca or cofa@vaughan.ca. You can view all Land Use Planning and Committee of Adjustment notices by visiting the City’s Public Notices webpage

Penalty notices

During the Canada Post labour disruption, City-issued penalty notices, i.e. tickets, will not be issued late penalties, tax implications or plate cancellations. Once the disruption is resolved, the expiration of notices will resume.

Property taxes

Cheques mailed to the City for property taxes may be delayed. You are encouraged to use one of the other convenient ways to pay your property taxes as payments remain due and payable by their respective due dates.

  • In person at the Service Vaughan welcome desk located on the main level of Vaughan City Hall.
  • Pre-authorized payment plans, including a six-instalment and a 10-instalment option.
  • Post-dated cheques made payable to the City of Vaughan that correspond with the amounts and due dates printed on the tax stubs.
  • Financial institutions, either in person, through the bank machine, online or via telephone.
  • At Vaughan City Hall, placed in marked drop-off boxes at each entrance which are available 24 hours a day.

For information about instalment due dates and payment options, visit vaughan.ca/PropertyTax. For questions about tax account balances, contact the City by phone at 905-832-2281 or by email at service@vaughan.caFailure to receive a tax bill does not exempt you from paying property taxes – late payment penalties will be added.
