Weston Road and Highway 7

The Weston Road and Highway 7 (Weston 7) area is generally bounded by Fieldstone Drive, Chrislea Road and Portage Parkway to the north; the Highway 400 corridor to the east; the Highway 407 corridor, Rowntree Dairy Road and Trowers Road to the south; and Ansley Grove Road and Whitmore Road to the west.

Through the ongoing Mobility Hub Study, a land-use planning policy framework will be established to support the development of a complete community around a potential GO Station in the study area. A Transportation Master Plan is also being undertaken alongside the Mobility Hub Study that will make recommendations for a multi-modal transportation network to develop a street network, integrate regional and local transit, and address connectivity while providing opportunities for active transportation to support the anticipated growth of the area.

 

 

Section 37 Agreements

Section 37 of the Planning Act permits municipalities to pass a by-law authorizing increases in height and density of development beyond what is permitted in the relevant zoning by-law in exchange for “facilities, services or matters” set out in the by-law. The City may require the owner to enter into agreements with the municipality regarding the facilities, services or matters being provided and these agreements may be registered on title.

Measuring Sustainability Performance of New Development in Brampton, Richmond Hill and Vaughan

The main purpose of implementing a sustainable development framework in the development review process is to reduce the overall ecological footprint of new developments and redevelopment projects. The Cities of Brampton, Vaughan and Richmond Hill (the municipal Partners) joined together to produce an innovative set of sustainability metrics for use in the planning process.

The Financial Planning and Development Finance department is committed to providing valuable and useful financial information to better assist departments, the Senior Leadership Team and Council in financial and strategic decision-making.

 

Our department is primarily responsible for financial policies, developing the tax-supported budget and providing financial advice to departments and Council. These activities are essential to ensure the City of Vaughan has the tools and information necessary to make well-informed financial and strategic decisions.
