The City’s Building Inspectors can discuss the various stages of construction requiring inspection and the types of reports that will be submitted to the City.
All drawings submitted for building permit applications are required to be prepared and reviewed by a qualified designer, architect or professional engineer or as outlined in the Ontario Building Code.
All drawings prepared by an architect or professional engineer must be sealed, signed and dated. A general review, where required by the Ontario Building Code, is to be conducted during construction by an architect or professional engineer.
Did you know that Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service (VFRS) uses vacant buildings for realistic and hands-on rescue training? Before a building is scheduled for demolition, consider offering it to the City’s Acquired Structure Program.

All fire alarm, sprinkler and fire suppression inspections are conducted by Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service (VFRS). Clearance from VFRS is required to obtain an occupancy permit from the Building Standards department.
