Vaughan Celebrates National Youth Week and Youth Arts Week With Free Activities

The City of Vaughan marks National Youth Week and Youth Arts Week from May 1 to 7 with free games, fitness classes, sports tournaments, arts exhibits and dance activities for youth ages 10 to 17 at community centres across Vaughan.
 
The Vaughan Youth Week schedule features activities for all interests and abilities.

Volunteers in Vaughan Recognized for Their Outstanding Contributions

Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and Members of Council recognized 57 outstanding volunteers at an awards ceremony held at Vaughan City Hall on April 24 as part of National Volunteer Week.
 
Earlier this year, the City’s non-profit and community organizations were invited to nominate an individual whose passion and actions made a positive impact in the community. Family and friends attended the special event as the award recipients received a Volunteer Recognition Certificate and lapel pin from Mayor Bevilacqua.

Residents Invited to Review Updated Plan For Parks, Recreation and Library Services

The City of Vaughan is hosting a public information session at Vaughan City Hall on Monday, April 29 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. to review the proposed updates to the Active Together Master Plan for existing parks, recreation and library facilities and future needs in Vaughan.
 
The updates are based on research and analysis done in 2012 as well as community input collected during public information sessions.

New Development Charges to be Discussed at Public Meeting on April 23

At the April 15 Finance and Administration Committee meeting, Vaughan Council received an update report on the Development Charge Review process in preparation for a public meeting to be held next week.

The City is currently reviewing its by-laws relating to development charges, the fees collected from land developers to fund the cost of municipal services and infrastructure needed to accommodate growth.
