Suspension of the Municipal Accommodation Tax extended to Sept. 1, 2020
 
The City of Vaughan continues to implement new measures and programs to support local businesses from the unintended consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. At a recent Council meeting, the City further extended the suspension of the Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) until Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020.

Celebrate Recreation and Parks Month

Take part in the Play-to-Win challenge throughout June
 
June is Recreation and Parks Month and the City of Vaughan is celebrating virtually this year due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Although park facilities and community centres remain closed, the City’s Recreation Services department will be offering daily online activities for residents to enjoy including trail hikes, cooking, dancing, sports, fitness and scavenger hunts.

Virtual Summer Adventures

Vaughan to offer online summer camps and programs beginning in July

The City of Vaughan’s Recreation Services department is launching the Virtual Summer Adventures series this summer to keep kids active, engaged and entertained. City instructors will livestream popular summer camp activities and recreational programs remotely via Zoom. Pre-registration is required to participate. The classes will run from Monday, July 6 to Friday, Sept. 4, 2020. 

Advancing the Yonge North Subway extension

York Region signs agreement with Province to advance critical transit project
 
The following is a statement by Vaughan Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua regarding an agreement between the Province of Ontario and the Regional Municipality of York to advance the Yonge North Subway Extension:

“The City of Vaughan is taking further action to keep citizens safe and to stop the spread of COVID-19. As part of our ongoing response efforts, Vaughan Public Libraries (VPL) has cancelled all in-library programs until January 2021.
