Every month, the City of Vaughan highlights the commonly asked questions received by the public and responded to by Service Vaughan in a series called ‘You asked, we answered.’
Here are the top five inquiries from November:
1. Where can I find general information about my tax account?
For general information about your property tax account, such as your current balance, payment history, upcoming due dates and available payment options, residents can contact Service Vaughan. Staff can help answer questions, provide guidance on where to find forms and resources, and direct you to additional support if needed. Call 905-832-2281 or email service@vaughan.ca for assistance.

2. How can I exchange my broken or damaged City-branded blue boxes, green bins or kitchen containers?
Until Dec. 31, 2025 you can exchange your broken or damagedCity-issued blue box, green bin or kitchen container online through Service Vaughan free of charge. The City logo must be on the bin to be eligible for a free exchange.
Starting Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, the City of Vaughan will no longer sell new blue boxes or exchange broken or damaged City-issued blue boxes. They can still be purchased or exchanged through Service Vaughan until Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025. Visit our Where to Purchase Containers, Bins and Tags webpage for more information. To buy a new blue box after Jan. 1, please call Miller Waste Systems at 1-855-752-3762 or email area10@millerwaste.ca.
The City will continue to sell new green bins and kitchen containers online through Service Vaughan or at select community centres after this date. For more information on the Province’s new recycling program, visit vaughan.ca/BlueBox.
3. How can I report sick or injured wildlife?
The City’s Animal Services Officers are available 24-7 to respond to calls about sick or injured wildlife. If you see a sick or injured wild animal, report it as soon as possible by:
- calling 905-832-2281, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. If you’re calling after hours, press “0” to reach the after-hours dispatch team.
- emailing animal.services@vaughan.ca.
As recommended by the Public Health Agency of Canada, members of the public should not handle sick, injured or dead wild birds or other wildlife, as they may be infected with diseases that can spread to humans.

4. How can I register my kids for December Break camps?
December Break camps take place from Monday, Dec. 22, 2025, to Friday, Jan. 2, 2026, at all community centres and the Vaughan Studios & Event Space. The online registration system is available 24-7 and features enhanced search filters, allowing you to sort by level, location, day and time. 5. How do I appeal a parking penalty?
You can appeal a parking penalty (ticket) online or by phone. Here’s how:
- Online: Complete the Administrative Penalty Screening form and upload any supporting documents or photos within 15 days of receiving your ticket. You will need the Penalty Notice number to complete the form. If you are not the registered vehicle owner, you will need to upload an Agent Authorization form to appeal a parking penalty on the owner’s behalf. The Screening Officer will review your online submission and provide a decision to you by email.
- Email or phone: Request a screening appointment within 15 days of receiving a parking penalty by emailing bylaw@vaughan.ca or calling Service Vaughan at 905-832-2281. If you are not the registered vehicle owner, indicate so and provide a an Agent Authorization form to appeal a parking penalty on the owner’s behalf. The person appearing at the Screening must be available 10 minutes before, and 10 minutes after, the scheduled Screening appointment time. The Screening Officer will call you at the number provided at the time of booking the appointment. The Screening Officer will call you at the scheduled appointment time, discuss the matter with you.
If no action is taken on a parking penalty within 15 days of when it was issued – by paying or requesting an appeal – additional fees will be added and the ability to appeal the penalty will be lost. Learn more about appealing a parking penalty at vaughan.ca/PenaltyAppeals.
