City recognized for 2023 Waste Collection Schedule

The City of Vaughan is committed to protecting our environment and fostering a sustainable community today and for future generations – and this starts with educating everyone on the importance of waste diversion.

The City’s 2023 Waste Collection Schedule (PDF) supports our ongoing green city efforts and was recently recognized in a big way! Last month, the City’s 2023 Waste Collection Schedule won Bronze in the Municipal Waste Association’s 2023 Promotion and Education Awards in the Print Tool category!

Awards were given to municipalities that launched a creative and innovative campaign, tool, strategy, event or program that engaged residents in waste diversion. Winners were announced and presented with their awards at the Municipal Waste Association 2023 Spring Workshop on May 17. This achievement was also recognized by Vaughan Council during a ceremonial presentation at the June 20 Council meeting.

The City’s 2023 Waste Collection Schedule is the culmination of extensive research and consultations with community members about how the schedule is used and what information matters most. The design evolved to a poster-like feel with a new legend to easily view collection days. In addition, the schedule emphasizes the City’s long-standing commitment to waste diversion and reduction by including information on the 2023 Curbside Giveaway Days and textile donation bins, both of which encourage recycling, reusing and building a stronger and more sustainable city.

Alongside highlighting the City’s many waste services, the schedule is also offered in personalized blue and yellow calendars based on collection zones and high-contrast black and white calendars for even easier readability. View or download them at vaughan.ca/WasteCalendar.
